Altadena Home Staging | California Cottage With Mountain Views

Altadena Home Staging – California Cottage With Mountains Views

Yesterday we staged this very lovely Altadena California cottage. This home is located at the top of Lake Ave. across the street from the Angeles National Forest, a mecca for Los Angeles outdoor enthusiasts. With 3 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms and a very large family room with sliding doors that lead out to a private backyard, this Altadena home has something for everyone.  The seller is willing to add closets to the family room so it can become a very generous bedroom, bringing the total bedrooms to 4. The porch, which stretches across the front of the house, would be perfect for a couple of Adirondack chairs, to sit in while sipping iced tea and admiring the mountain view.

When we are staging a home, we select our furniture and accessories to accentuate the most positive features of the home. In this home, we want to call attention to the new hardwood floors, new tile floors, the fireplace, granite counters in the kitchen and 2 bathrooms, in particular. I usually use light colored living room furniture, which photographs better (for those all important MLS photos we provide with every staging) and makes rooms feel lighter and brighter. We also use furniture that is commensurate with the value of the home. We make sure our home staging adds perceived value to the home.

Pasadena Home Staging | Contemporary Cottage Remodel

Contemporary Pasadena remodel home staging

This past week we staged this beautifully remodeled Pasadena cottage located at 3580 E. Del Mar Blvd.  The homeowner really did a terrific job and all I can say is Wow! The bathrooms are gorgeous with European fixtures and rain showers. All the closets have been fitted with the latest closet fittings and frosted plexi loft style closet doors. The floors have been refinished with an espresso finish in the latest style. The kitchen is brand new with solid quartz counter-tops and a micro-mosaic backsplash. Very au courant and very unique for Pasadena!

I love being able to stage beautifully remodeled  homes and this one is a real winner! Usually you will find traditional, Spanish or Craftsman homes in Pasadena. This home really stands out for it’s clean contemporary lines and finishes. This home was staged for a real estate investor.

We staged this home 2 days after the Pasadena wind storm that wrecked havoc all over town. When we staged, we didn’t have any electricity, either at the house or at our warehouse. We had to pack up for staging this home using flashlights. And when I photographed the house, I wasn’t able to turn on any lights as I normally do.

This home is a pocket listing (Its for sale, but not listed on the MLS yet). If you are interested, contact the listing agent Patrice Jacobs, Coldwell Banker (626)221-0213. Once again, the address is 3580 E. Del Mar Blvd.  and it does have a Supra lock box.

Here’s a list of a few other Pasadena homes we’ve staged recently (all are sold!) and two testimonials from our very happy clients:

Pasadena Wind Storms – Info and Photos

This past week, November 30 and December 1, Pasadena was hammered by a very strong (and scary) wind storm. The following information was sent to me by Irina Netchaev, owner of Pasadena Views Real Estate Team.

The information was put together by Ann Erdman, City of Pasadena Public Affairs Media Office. For more info you can contact Ann Erdman, Office (626) 744-4755; Cell (626) 375-2742

The following information is based on assessments through late afternoon Friday, Dec. 2, and should be considered preliminary and subject to change.  Information will be updated as it becomes available.

  • 325 miles of streets were impacted by storm debris – falling trees, tree limbs, utility poles and/or wires.  The primary goal has been to move debris to the side of the road so at least one lane in each direction is open.  Debris will be removed over the coming weeks.
    • 100 percent of arterial streets are accessible
    • 90 percent of secondary streets are accessible
    • The percentage of residential streets is unknown at this time
  • 34 traffic signals reported for repair
    • 8 were not Pasadena and were referred to Caltrans and the county of Los Angeles
    • Of the remaining 26, immediate/temporary repairs were completed on 18 with remaining eight pending
  • 23 street lights reported for repair
    • Immediate/temporary repairs were completed on 18, with the remaining five pending
  • 99 percent of Pasadena Water and Power customers are operational.  Crews still working on restoring service to 400 electric and 150 water customers
  • 37 people were transported by Pasadena ARTs buses to a temporary shelter at Robinson Park Center. Twenty-five remained until late Friday afternoon when they were relocated. One senior citizen walk-in was later reported and remains at the shelter.
  • Only 4 known injuries
  • The Sunset Reservoir roof was damaged, requiring the reservoir to be drained and disinfected and the roof repaired.
  • Trees
    • More than 600 street trees fell and an unknown number of street trees were severely damaged
    • 67 trees fell at Brookside Golf Course and 120 more were severely damaged
    • The number of trees that fell or were severely damaged in city parks is unknown at this time
  • 5 building inspectors have inspected approximately 200 homes with varying levels of damage

    • 29 workers from Los Angeles County Department of Public Works were on duty Thursday and 32 on Friday
    • 122 field employees from contractors were on duty Thursday and Friday
  • Fire Calls
    • From 8 p.m. on Nov. 20 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 2, the Fire Department was dispatched to the following:
      • 57 fire calls
      • 42 medical calls
      • 109 service calls
      • 163 wires or other electrical system-related calls
      • 15 natural gas-related calls
      • Total = 386 (roughly 8 times the normal call volume)
    • 11 other agencies assisted us on 94 calls.  At our peak, we had 27 units from other agencies handling calls in our city
    • Pasadena Fire Department regularly has 7 engines, 2 trucks and 5 ambulances available in the city and added 4 engines and 1 patrol to supplement capacity on Thursday
  • Police Calls
    • From 10 p.m. on Nov. 30 to 1 p.m. on Dec. 2, the Pasadena Police Department Communication Center processed 4,650 calls for service including 9-1-1 and non-emergency requests.

Pasadena Home Staging – Who You Hire Does Make A Difference

Pasadena Home Staging – Who You Hire Does Make A Difference

A little more than 2 months ago, Moving Mountains Design was hired to stage a cute Prospect Park Pasadena area cottage. The home received several offers and went into escrow very quickly, thanks in part to the fact that the home owners had hired us to stage it. Unfortunately, the buyer had a difficult time securing financing at the very end of the escrow period, and it looked like the home had to be put back on the market. The home went back under contract, and happily, closed escrow last week – with the original buyers! The sellers were on pins and needles with all the uncertainty, and wanted to wait until just before closing to destage. Because they had given us enough advance warning, we were able to coordinate a down-to-the-last-minute destaging.

This morning I awoke to a very lovely testimonial on Angie’s List:

We were putting our house on the market to sell and needed someone to furnish and get it market ready. Moving Mountains was one of four companies we reviewed. Michelle was by far the most knowledgeable and professional. She clearly knew the market and what needed to be done to get the house sold.
Michelle and her team beautifully staged the house in time for photos to be taken and posted on the MLS before the first open house. She also helped our Realtor to publicize it by leveraging her own network of brokers.  We were concerned about getting traffic to the open house as there was another similarly priced house on the market across the street that had very light traffic during the previous weekend when they held an open house. We ended up getting over 100 people at our first open house and were in escrow 2 days later after receiving multiple offers and getting over asking price.
We were supposed to be closing after 45 days so Michelle and her team were scheduled to de-stage the house a few days before the scheduled closing date. Her team was on the way to the house when we learned that the buyer was having issues with their loan and there was a possibility we’d need to re-market. Michelle was able to call her team back and re-schedule the de-staging about 5 times before we knew the loan was ready to go and it was safe to finally de-stage. She was incredibly flexible even though we were supposed to give her 5 days notice. Michelle juggled her schedule to accommodate us. Finally the loan came through and she emptied the house.
When the house was empty at the final walk through, our Realtor praised the staging and said that it definitely helped to command a much greater selling price than we would have received if the house had been empty. We would highly recommend Moving Mountains to anyone looking to sell their home.

Because Moving Mountains Design is well organized, with lots of staging projects under our belts, we were able to coordinate the truck rental, furniture pick-up and assistants on a very fluid and uncertain schedule.
